Message From the Museum Board Chair

What one word comes to mind when you hear the word “museum”? For most people, the word is: exhibits, archives, preservation or old stuff. For me, the word is “engine”.
A museum is an engine that drives awareness, understanding and growth in a community.
Museums don’t exist for themselves alone. They are a community asset and resource for
many types of people including: writers and artists who research the archives for
information; newcomers who want to learn about the history of their new home; people
who are simply interested in history, and; people who want a unique venue for events such as weddings and other important celebrations. The Sault Ste Marie Museum is many things to many people, and I invite you to join the growing number of people who are discovering the hidden jewel at the corner of East and Queen.
