ROOTED: 125+ Years of Jewish History in Sault Ste. Marie

The Sault Ste. Marie Museum has partnered with Congregation Beth Jacob to begin collecting, preserving and contextualizing Jewish history in Sault Ste. Marie. This process began with the recent exhibition at the Museum; ROOTED; 125+ Years of Jewish History in Sault Ste. Marie.

​Together, we are aiming to create an accessible database of Jewish history in Sault Ste. Marie. 
We are asking the community to share and/or donate historical records, photographs, video footage, written or oral histories, and any other information to assist us in capturing the full history of the local Jewish Community.  This could be family information, information or artifacts connected to local Jewish businesses or information pertaining to the Beth Jacob Synagogue.  

If you do not wish to donate original documents or photos, the Sault Museum is happy to scan and make copies of your archives to preserve for our collection, while allowing you to retain the originals. 

The Sault Ste. Marie Museum has also started an oral history project. If you have memories or family history you would like to share, we want to hear them and preserve those stories for future generations!
